Perhaps Love…
On my capsule-time trip (I depart at 19 July in the morning, and arrived at 19 July in the evening 
) from Jakarta-Singapore-Tokyo-Los Angeles, I knew there will be not much to do when flying accross time zone. During my trip up there, I found an interesting movie : Perhaps Love
It’s kinda bored & confusing at the beginning, but 120minutes of bored movie is not a bad idea when you have 20 hours trip. Perhaps love has 3 different story lines which is connected one and another, you will see the connection clearer as the movie progress.. Just give it some time
The story talks about a famous actor : Lin Jian Dong (Takeshi Kaneshiro), the director which has speciality in musical movie : Nie Wen (Jacky Cheung) and Lin’s co-star : Sun Na (Zhou Xun), which is Lin’s old flame from a decade ago. Sun is in relationship with Nie, who eventually made her a star and famous as part of her ambition.
This musical movie they are performing is about a love triangle : an amnesiac woman forgets everything, including her background. The amnesiac woman, then saved by generous circus owner - which eventually became her lover. The two fall in love. Later when she recovers her memory, she finds herself between her past and present. The musical performance features the actors Lin and Sun in eading roles, with director Nie (playing the role as the circus owner) as the third part of the riangle. Nie is unawared of his two stars’ previous relationship, and that analogy reflected in the musical movie that they are working on. As Lin and Sun spend more time with each other on the set, memories of the past begin to overwhelm them..
A decade earlier, Lin, was a film student at the Beijing Film Academy - his goal is to be a fame director (later on, he’s failed but became a famous actor instead). At that time, he met Sun, who was performing at a local bar. He was a thrifty student and she is a songtress down on her luck. The two lonely hearts found each other and fell in love (they decide to get married) until Sun’s ambition and desire to became a famous artist upset the relationship. Feeling held back, Sun left Lin for a man who would make her famous and fulfill her ambition to become an artist.
Ten years later, the hottest starts of their generation (Lin & Sun) met accidentaly in the same musical movie project. The romance of their past is rekindled as the production of the musical progresses. Interesting…
